2011 Grand Prix Race

2011 is a year of many firsts for our team, it is the first year racing for our team, our driver, and our kart. We are very happy with our performance in the 2011 race finishing 12th overall. Our kart was involved in several accidents that set us back in this years race. Luckily our team acted fast and was able to get the kart back on the track.  We learned a lot this year, and plan to use what we've learned and come back even stronger next year.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2011 Qualifications

The format for qualifications is three karts out on the track to post their fastest time. Each team is allowed one 7 minute session. Each year 27 karts qualify and this year 41 teams attempted to qualify.

In our first year back in the race, our goals for qualifications were just to make the big show. We far exceeded this goal placing 9th overall with a lap time of 26.986 seconds. Our kart slipped a chain in the 6th qualifying lap, ending our session. This makes our performance even more impressive due to the fact most teams had about 15 laps to post their best time.

Our team got to work after qualifications and quickly identified the cause of the chain slip. We fabricated a fix quickly for the race in the following week.
